How to Install GoDaddy UCC SSL Certificate With cPanel WHM

  • Generating Certificate Signing Request for GoDaddy UCC SSL Certificate

Installing GoDaddy UCC SSL Certificate with cPanel WHM is not really that hard. The initial process, which is generating a Certificate Signing Request for a UCC SSL Certificate, is the same as the process in generating a CSR for regular SSL Certificates. You only have to provide the main domain where you would install your UCC SSL Certificate. But it’s important that you know how many domains you are going to install your GoDaddy UCC SSL Certificate so that you know what kind of UCC SSL Certificate you are going to purchase on GoDaddy.

After you have generated your Certificate Signing Request on your WHM, you can submit it to GoDaddy so that you can download your UCC SSL Certificate and install it with your cPanel WHM.

  • Generating The Original Key

Using your CSR, you can generate your initial SSL Certificate or Original Key on your GoDaddy account. Keep that Original Key for later use.

  • Initial Certificate Setup

Once you have generated your original key, you should now add the additional domains that you want your UCC SSL Certificate to be installed on. You can do this on your GoDaddy account; select your UCC SSL Certificate then hit ‘Manage’. Enter your additional domains under ‘New Subject Name Alt’ then hit ‘Add’.

After you have added and verified the domains, you can now download the UCC SSL Certificate in a .zip file. Unzip your certificate file so that you can open it using a text editor.

  • GoDaddy UCC SSL Certificate Installation under WHM

On your WHM, choose ‘Install a Certificate and Set Up the Domain’ then paste your certificate’s text in the text area at the top of the screen. If the process doesn’t automatically fill the domain and user form, select ‘domain1.com’ on the domain and put in ‘nobody’ on the user. Also, make sure that the IP Address is correct.

There is a second text area on the page, paste the Original Key that you have generated earlier. Then on the third text area, enter the file contents of the gd_bundle.crt file. Click ‘Submit’ and you’re done.

  • Installing Additional Domains

Once the main domain installation is successful, you can now add the other domains that you want your certificate to protect. Open your httpd.conf file and copy the VirtualHost definition to a text file. Change the name of the domain from the main domain to the additional domain on the text file that you have copied. You can also update the username and usergroup of the files if needed. Copy the file contents to your clipboard.

Go to your WHM and go to ‘Post VirtualHost Include’ then choose ‘All Apache Versions’. Paste your copied file onto the text area provided then hit ‘Update’. Restart your Apache server and you’re done.
