Installing GoDaddy SSL Certificate on Netscaler Appliance

Here is a simple guide on how to purchase and install a GoDaddy SSL Certificate on your Netscaler Appliance.

  • Purchase Your SSL Certificate on GoDaddy

Just go to GoDaddy and choose the certificate that you want. But you won’t be able to download your SSL Certificate copy without a Certificate Signing Request. So, you have to go to Netscaler Appliance and create one.

  • Create RSA Key and Generate Your CSR

Unlike in generating CSR on other servers where you only have to generate a CSR, in Netscaler, you have to generate an RSA first before you can issue a Certificate Signing Request.

Go to SSL > SSL Keys then Create RSA Key to generate your RSA. On the Create RSA Key window, provide the necessary information such as Key Filename, Key Size, Public Exponent Value and Key Format.

After generating your RSA Key, you can now generate your CSR by providing the needed info in the fields provided on the Create CSR window that can be accessed by going to SSL > SSL Certificates then Create CSR (Certificate Signing Request). Retrieve the CSR and go to GoDaddy so that you can submit it to be able to download your SSL Certificate copy.

  • Upload Signed Response Server Certificate

After receiving the copy of your certificate, go to Netscaler Appliance and upload the Signed Response Server Certificate. After that, you can then upload the SSL Certificate itself by going to SSL > Certificates and clicking on ‘Install’.

Provide all the needed details such as the Certificate Key-Pair Name, Certificate File Name, Private Key File Name, Password and Certificate Format. You can also choose if you want to be notified when the SSL Certificate expires so that you can renew it in time. You can also choose the period of time when you want to get notified before the certificate expires so that you can renew it before it expires. This will enable you to avoid future problems about updating an SSL Certificate that is already expired.

Choose a convenient time when you want to be notified about the expiration of your certificate so that you will have enough time to do the necessary updating and renewal of your certificate.
